On-line Shopping and Privacy
Internet security has been getting a lot of publicity in the news recently, and many people are concerned about sensitive information getting into the wrong hands. Jeanette Ardern Designs is also concerned about this issue, and we've put this page together to give you an idea of what we do to keep your information private.
Customer Information Privacy Policy
We have a policy that we do not share any information about our customers with anyone. When you order from us, we do keep the information you give us on file. We may need to get a hold of you if we have a problem with your order or with a kit that you've purchased. We may also want to let you know about what we are doing in the way of new kits, where we're going to be exhibiting, and so on. However, we never sell, rent, or give information about you to other companies.
Security on the Website
Most of our site does not need to be secure because when you surf around our catalog, you are not entering any sensitive information. The website is hosted on an Internet Service Provider (ISP) close to our office and most of the time you will not see the little padlock icon that tells you you're in a secure site.
However, when you are ready to order, our Order Page is secure. On-line purchasing from our site is secured through the facilities of Secure Hosting, a British company providing secure site services to small businesses such as ours. Our Order Page is hosted on Secure Hosting's system and you will see the padlock icon when you load the page. You may experience a slight delay when you load the Order page because you are switching from an ISP in Ontario to one in Britain.
When you submit the Order form, Secure Hosting sends you a confirmation of your order by e-mail (without any credit card information). They also send us a notification of your order by e-mail (again without any credit card info). We then log in to a protected area of Secure Hosting's system, print the order details so we have a hard copy in our office, then delete the information from their system.
Off-line Orders
For those who prefer not to give out sensitive information over the internet, we have an off-line ordering facility. You can still surf the catalog and select kits to put in the basket. Once you have made your selections, you can click on the Order by Mail/Fax keyword at the bottom of most of our pages. Clicking on Order by Mail/Fax puts you on a page that lists the kits you have selected and a form for you to fill in with shipping and credit card information. Use your Browser's PRINT icon to produce a hard copy of the form. Fill in the blanks on the printed form and fax or snail mail it to us.
